French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain announced on Thursday that teenager Kylian Mbappe's jersey number had been changed from No. 29 to No. 7 for the upcoming season.
Brazilian winger Lucas Moura last wore the No. 7 until he left for English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in January 2018.
"I always thought that the kit number was not of great importance," said the 19-year-old Mbappe, who recently lifted the World Cup with France. "I thought that how you behave on the pitch is more important, but your number shows your ambitions and it shows the kind of player you want to be.

"Seven is a legendary number. A lot of great players have worn it. I hope I'll do justice to this great number with good performances on the pitch. I will keep working really hard in order to improve and see where this takes me."
Mbappe said that he came to PSG to accomplish something and he hopes he can "achieve greatness" at the club.
