The Chinese Embassy in Russia held a premiere on Monday for the second season of "This is China" — a documentary series on Chinese culture, people and landscape. It's a co-production of China and Russia, and the first season was released in 2017.
Through the stories of different figures, the second season of "This is China" will show how the people living along the ancient Silk Road contributed to the development of the country.

According to the production team, viewers can look forward to traditional Chinese culture and beautiful landscapes, and the series will reflect on the wisdom and creativity of the Chinese people.
The first season covered eight provinces in six episodes, highlighting traditional and modern China, with themes such as Shaolin Kung Fu, giant pandas and Peking Opera.

The team started filming the second season from last June. The sequel will focus on the new and ancient Silk Road — the trading route's contribution to global civilization and its influence on the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.
The joint production is in conjunction with the 2016 to 2017 Sino-Russian Media Exchange Year. "This Is China" is set to comprise three seasons, and to be completed within three years. There will be 6 to 12 episodes per year, with English and Spanish versions also available.
The new episodes will begin airing on CGTN and Russia Today TV this month.
