China-Mauritania relations set a good example for China's ties with Africa and other developing countries, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Sunday.
Xi made the remarks while meeting his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz in Beijing, ahead of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The Chinese president praised Mauritania's role in giving the firm support on issues involving China's core interests and major concerns.
The two sides should take the Belt and Road as a new starting point and innovate cooperation mode, promoting the cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure to enhance Mauritania's independent development capabilities, Xi said.
Aziz highly valued China's contribution to multilateralism and world peace and appreciated Xi's proposal to build a community of shared future for mankind.
The Belt and Road Initiative will promote development between China and Africa, Aziz said, adding that the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC will jointly build a closer community of shared future for both sides.
The two leaders also witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents after their talks.
