CGTN invited Stephen R. Nagy, senior associate professor of politics and international studies at the International Christian University in Tokyo for insights on the U.S.-Japan relationship. According to him, both leaders want a U.S.-Japan relationship that is not only based on military cooperation but extends to trade and culture. The nature of the U.S.-Japan alliance is rather strong. Thus it is less likely for the U.S. to take a hard line with Japan on trade.
