The 14th China Changchun Film Festival, a biennial international film festival kicked off in northeast China's Changchun on Saturday.
The selection of "Golden Deer Award" winners this year is organized by China Media Group. Fifteen films were nominated, including "Dying to Survive" and "Operation Red Sea." The judges will give final reviews to the nominated films between September 1 to 5, and the final results will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony.
According to the introduction, the selection of "Golden Deer Award" winners focuses on "youth," and encourages and praises outstanding young talents and film works. Among 10 awards, six are for honoring youth filmmakers, including the "Award for Best Youth Screenwriter," "Award for Best Youth Actor," and "Award for Best Youth Actress."
The jury of "Golden Deer Awards" consists of celebrities in the film industry and film professionals, who possess both achievements and authorities. The jury consists of seven people: one chairman and six judges.
The jury, chaired by renowned director Huo Jianqi, also has Lee Lik Chi, a comedy director from Hong Kong, China; Liu Yi, a scriptwriter; Alec Su, an actor from China's Taiwan region; Shu Nan, a musician; Sun Ming, a photographer, and Zhang Yuqi, an actor from Chinese mainland.
The Changchun International Film Festival, launched 25 years ago, was the first film festival in China to be named after a city. As an important part of the development of the Chinese film industry, the festival has demonstrated the professionalism, power, and charm of film over the years.
