The US has provoked trade frictions without doing anything to benefit to itself, said the Information Office of China's State Council at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday.
The restrictions imposed by the US not only damaged bilateral trade but also American workers, farmers, businesses and consumers, said Wang Shouwen, China's vice minister of commerce and the deputy representative of international trade negotiations.
The US market is losing edges
"The United States is an important source of imports for Chinese agriculture. From January to July of this year, however, China's imports of agricultural products from other countries, including Brazil and Australia, increased substantially, but the increase of agricultural products from the US was marginal," said Wang.
"The United States is also the largest supplier of automobiles to China, but now Germany has surpassed the country as the largest supplier. Japanese and German cars all showed growth in the Chinese market, but the number of American cars was on a decline."
"As the trade volume between China and the US is at least 700 billion US dollars, it is normal for the two sides to have differences. As long as the two sides negotiate on an equal footing, as well as in the spirit of honesty and authenticity, it is possible to find a way out through consultation," Wang added.
