More than 100 people have been killed and dozens are missing after historic torrential rains unleashed floods in western Japan last week. Extreme weather is also threatening most Asian countries with tropical storms, typhoons and monsoon rains. Safety comes first during the rainy season and governments are expected to take good precautions to minimize losses. An aerial photo taken on Saturday shows houses, roads and crops inundated by floods in Taihe County, southeastern China’s Jiangxi Province. Consecutive heavy rain has affected more than 306,000 people from 24 counties in Jiangxi, causing 19,700 people to relocate and a direct economic loss of 410 million yuan (about 61 million US dollars).
