On Friday, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a handover ceremony of the China-aided Independent Boulevard with Papua New Guinean Prime Minister Peter O'Neill.
CGTN reporter Li Tianfu got a chance to visit the new road before the ceremony, as officials prepared for its official operation.
The Independent Boulevard was funded by China as the supporting project for the 2018 APEC Leaders' Meeting in Papua New Guinea. The road will be used for national celebrations, parades and other important activities.
The Independent Boulevard is one of the main roads of the capital Port Moresby and is expected to improve infrastructure and life quality in the city.
It has six lanes and is 1.06 kilometers long.

Senior design engineer of the National Capital District Commission, Ravu Frank, told CGTN that the Independent Boulevard project is “unique.”
As one of the designers and the managers of the project, he has driven on the road many times.
“The feeling of driving on this road is one of the best,” he said.
