Many Asian cuisines are known for their hot and spicy flavors. Its origin can be traced back to 6,000 years ago in Mexico. Chili was brought to Asia by Portuguese traders who promoted its commerce in the Asian spice trade. It was introduced to India at the end of the 15th century. There are more than 400 different types of chilies. The world's hottest chili "Naga Jolokia" is grown in the Indian town of Tezpur.
