The 2019 International Collegiate Hockey Tournament finally came to an end at the Shougang Ice Hockey Arena in Beijing on Friday as the Eurasian National University team from Kazakhstan eventually overpowered their rivals, the Czech Technical University team from Prague, to claim the prestigious trophy in the Chinese capital.
The powerful Kazakh side won the thrilling final match by a 6-2 score-line.
The high-voltage final saw Eurasian National University in black taking on Czech Technical University from the capital Prague. The Asian team dominated the game with their excellent skills and tacit cooperation before they got the better of their hapless opponents to claim the champion's crown.
It's the first time that China hosted such a big hockey tournament featuring different colleges around the world. The tournament was seen as an important warm up event before the commencement of 2022 Winter Olympics.
The local team of Harbin Sport University missed the chance to advance to the knock out stage after suffering two losses in the group stage. The host side, however, did manage to win a solitary game but failed to win an elusive second in the tournament.
