China always opposes foreign intervention in any country's domestic affairs, and respects the sovereignty and independence of other countries, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday, in response to a question regarding the Venezuela situation.
China objects foreign intervention in Venezuela's domestic affairs, which is also the basic norm in international law, Wang said, warning that external intervention will only bring back the law of the jungle.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress in Beijing.
Wang said China supports Venezuela's government to resolve the current crisis through political dialogue.
In regard to the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Latin American countries in recent years, Wang said the one-China principle is a widely recognized norm and serves as the guideline of China's relationship with other countries.
China's diplomatic ties with other countries are not targeting a third party or trying to move others' cheese, but these relations are based on equality and cooperation, Wang stressed.
