China warmly welcomes and firmly supports the latest commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula reached during the third inter-Korean summit, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, calling for measures to concrete the agreement.
Wang said the latest agreement between the North and the South is the wish of the people from both sides, and that countries including China are happy to see the result.
"This year marks the 65th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, and we must not lose this rare opportunity for peace again," Wang told reporters at a government promotion event in Beijing on Thursday.
Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea (ROK) signed an agreement to take further steps towards denuclearization of the peninsula and eliminating all threats of war during their third summit in Pyongyang on Wednesday.

The South said the agreement is a de-facto end of the Korean War (1950-1953).
Wang hailed the result, saying the North-South relationship have hugely improved and the two sides agreed to work together to make the peninsula a home without nuclear weapons and military threats.
He also called on all parties concerned to take action and work towards the full and complete denuclearization of the peninsula.
Chinese Foreign Ministry also applauded the result.
“Peace, prosperity, reconciliation, and cooperation are shared desires by Koreans and people in neighboring countries,” Geng Shuang, spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at Wednesday's presser, adding that “China has always been supportive of improving bilateral ties through dialogue and talks.”
