German football legend Jürgen Klinsmann recently showed up in Beijing to help promote the Bundesliga in China.
The former Germany and U.S. coach, previously rumored to be a potential candidate to take charge of the China's national men's team, toured the Great Wall on Saturday and attended a few commercial activities in the Chinese capital.
The 54-year-old also shared his views on the big money transfers happening in the Chinese Super League (CSL) in the last few years.
"I mean every investment into football helps develop the game and makes it more popular. Big players can bring more fans to the stadium, and more people are interested in football in general."
"At the same time, you help the grass-root level where the kids play, hopefully, to... help them play more. They get inspired to play football because they see big players on television or in a stadium, and that's very important too," added Klinsmann.
After Marcello Lippi bid farewell to China in January, Fabio Cannavaro became coach of the national team which is reportedly seeking another big name following the Italian's disappointing start.
Klinsmann had led both Germany and the U.S. to good results in the World Cup and said he had stayed close to the game, even though he has not coached since leaving America in 2016.
