Two Chinese nationals were killed in a violent incident in Myanmar’s north, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.
Clashes broke out on Saturday between Myanmar's armed forces and armed ethnic groups in the town of Muse in Shan state, which is near the main border gate with China.
China has lodged an official complaint to the Myanmar government, urging the relative parties to take all measures to prevent the situation from deteriorating further, Lu Kang, spokesman of the MOFA, said.
China urges all relative parties to solve issues through dialogue and consultations and to make efforts in advancing the peace process, Lu added.
Earlier on Sunday, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar said in a statement that China has condemned the clashes and is deeply saddened by the deaths and injuries of innocent people, and calls for restraint from all sides.
