Increasing number of mandarin ducks shows improving environment

CGTN

For years, the Yuntaihu wetland park in Sichuan Province has been a major spot for wintering mandarin ducks as well as other migratory birds. Both the number and the species of the birds here are increasing, signaling the improvement of eco-environment in this area.

Mandarin ducks are native to Japan and China and favor small wooded ponds. The bird's colorful plumage has been featured in many art works, giving it a reputation of beauty. Mandarin ducks also have a great cultural significance for their monogamy; the pattern of a couple of mandarin ducks always conveys love and marriage.
