The Boao Forum for Asia annual conference was held from April 8 to 10 in Boao, south China's island province of Hainan. This year's forum was themed "An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity."

In the keynote speech at the forum's opening ceremony, Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China's commitment to further opening up and promoting global prosperity. 

He also said during the meeting that China's Belt and Road Initiative was not an enigma but "a plan in the sunshine" aimed at benefiting more countries and people.
