Major Cold, also known as "Dahan" in Chinese, is the last solar term of the winter, and the year as well. It usually falls around January 20, not far away from the Spring Festival, which falls on February 5 this year. During this time of year, people in ancient China preferred food with a warm and placid nature, in order to get the nutrition required during the cold days.
