A series of seminars will help local businesses in Sydney to engage with Chinese tourists through the use of digital platforms, local officials said on Thursday.
The joint initiative by Sydney and Asialink Business entails a series of three classes delivered by experts in the field, regarding the opportunities and cultural nuances driving an industry worth 8.2 billion U.S. dollars.
"Research shows that Chinese travelers are drawn to our natural surroundings, coastal beauty and great food offerings. This series will help businesses maximize the visitor experience," director of Asialink's China practice and series host, Nick Henderson said.

"A key factor for success is understanding China's complex digital landscape and being part of the tourists' travel journey, from planning through to the visitor experience, and to sharing on social media and using different payment platforms."
Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said that the classes will offer local businesses increased access to an important market.
"As a global city, our relationships with other countries such as China are vital to our economic and cultural life," Moore said.
"With so many visitors from China gracing our shores, it's important for our businesses to understand their needs."
