China's Chen Long won the men's high jump, the first gold medal in athletics for China, at this year's Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires on October 14 with a 2.22m result.
There were two stages in the men's high jump competition, with the aggregate determining each athlete's final score. In the first stage, Chen jumped over the height of 2.13m to top the table on October 11, and three days later, he beat the old YOG record by two centimeters.
The youngster will soon be 16-years-old, and at the age of 14, he had already jumped at a height of 2.15m. During the qualification round, he jumped over 2.20m at the national level in April, and led all young Asian high-jumpers with a jump of 2.17m in July.
