FM spokesman: China closely watching development of Sudan situation

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said on Friday that China is closely watching the development of the situation in Sudan. 
"China has always pursued the principle of non-interference in other country's internal affairs, we believe that Sudan has the ability to handle internal affairs and safeguard the peace and stability of the country," Lu said during a regular press briefing.
"China has a deep traditional friendship with Sudan. Regardless of how the situation in Sudan develops and changes, China will continue to work to maintain and develop such friendly relations and cooperation," Lu added.
Lu further said that China-Sudan relations have developed very well in recent years, and mutually beneficial cooperation has been carried out.
The two peoples also share a deep friendship, Lu added.
Sudan's Defense Minister Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Auf on Thursday announced the ousting of President Omar al-Bashir and his government and was sworn in as head of the transitional council in the country.
