Three-day Chinese Spring Festival celebration in Red Sea resort, Egypt

Hundreds of Egyptians and Chinese took part in a three-day event hosted by the Chinese embassy in Egypt which kicked off Wednesday at the Hollywood fun park in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm al-Sheikh.
The event celebrates the Chinese New Year, featuring traditional Chinese music and dancing. 
A Chinese singer also sang a famous Egyptian national song that amused the Egyptians who attended the party.

In the alleyway leading to the festival, a number of Chinese artists showcased their hand-made embroideries, paintings and accessories.
"I heard that many Egyptians are interested in Chinese traditional culture," said Wu Junmin, a 53-year-old embroidery artist and founder of Tangren Embroidery Company in Taiyuan City. "I hope one day I could come back again and get more chances to introduce Chinese Shanxi embroidery." 
Most of the cultural activities at this year's event are part of the national or provincial intangible heritages from Shanxi Province, including paper-cutting, acrobatics and folk dance.

A number of Egyptians also displayed their handmade products of traditional arts such clothes, wood and glass works so that the Chinese can learn more about Egypt's traditional artworks.
Member of the Egyptian parliament Mahmoud al-Masoud said he is so delighted that the Spring Festival celebrations are held in the city for the second consecutive year.
"China and Egypt are among the most ancient civilizations and there are many similarities between the two nations," he told Xinhua.
The event runs through Friday.
