The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League leaders, Guangdong Southern Tigers, has officially confirmed that the NBA journeyman Michael Beasley has signed on the dotted lines as he is well poised to join the side. Incidentally, this will be Beasley's third stint with a CBA League side.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Tuesday that Beasley is closing in on a deal with Guangdong as he tweeted: “Short run of two months, significant cash.”
The former Los Angeles Lakers forward's sudden move to China came after his two-day-long tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was acquired by the LA-based team from their city rivals Lakers in a trade on February 7 and was released on Saturday by the Clippers on February 9.
The 30-year-old has played for seven NBA teams in 11 seasons since the Miami Heat drafted the forward way back in 2008.
He has featured in 26 games with the Lakers this season, averaging 7.0 points and 2.3 rebounds before relocating to the Clippers. He had earlier played in the CBA in two seasons and bagged International MVP in 2016. He, however, returned to the U.S. that year after rejoining the NBA with Houston Rockets.

Beasley will play with Guangdong for the rest of the season and the playoffs as well. According to reports, he is set to get a cool two million dollar salary during his upcoming stay in China.
In 2014, Beasley first came to the CBA after signing a one-year deal with the Shanghai Sharks. His second stint in China came a year later, when he was roped in by the Shandong Golden Stars for the 2015-2016 CBA season.
Guangdong also updated their rosters as they decided to sign MarShon Brooks, who was traded to the Chicago Bulls from Memphis Grizzlies in January before they waived him a few days later. The 30-year-old guard had earlier played with Jiangsu in three-seasons with averaging nearly 36 points.
Meanwhile, the team from China's Guangzhou province also confirmed that Sony Weems will stay with them for the rest of the season while the eight-time CBA League champions released Malcolm Delaney, who helped them move atop the league table this season.
