Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Russia's port city of Vladivostok on Tuesday to attend the fourth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Xi will attend the EEF from Tuesday to Wednesday, the first time a Chinese head of state has attended the forum, marking the important high-level exchange in China-Russia bilateral ties in the second half of the year.

Xi will attend a number of bilateral and multilateral events during the EEF and meet with Putin for the third time this year.

The EEF was proposed by Putin in 2015. This year's forum is scheduled from September 11 to 13.
