American daily USA Today called on boxing fans to boycott the rematch announced by Floyd Mayweather against Manny Pacquiao.
The newspaper asked the fans to "get organized and to do the right thing", in an article published on Saturday.
"Sign a petition. Take a public vow. Do whatever it takes. Boycott the fight," it wrote.
Earlier on the day, undefeated record holder Mayweather posted on Twitter: "I'm coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year. Another 9 figure payday on the way". In response, Pacquiao wrote that he would give the first loss to Mayweather.

USA Today called Mayweather "one of the greediest" fighters who "fleeced" 250 million US dollars from boxing fans through his match against Pacquiao in 2015 and described "The Fight of the Century" as "one of the biggest letdowns in modern boxing history".
The daily has its reasons for its resentment against this rematch. Having retired in 2017, Mayweather is already 41 years old, and he will fight 39-year-old Pacquiao. Meanwhile, considering how their last match ended--Mayweather won with his well-known running and counter-punching style--there may not be enough to expect from their next match.
USA Today is not alone. ESPN also published a similar article with the headline: "We saw it once and it was no good". Many have doubted that Mayweather chose Saturday to release the news because he wanted to steal the limelight from the match between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

According to Bleacher Report, Pacquiao said that they would confirm the details of the fight this week. "We will finalize the fight this week, either Mayweather or somebody else, where and when, what date."
Though media outlets do not share positive prospect for "The Fight of the Century 2.0", it's almost for sure that fans will pay for it in a big way. Back in 2015, the match put some 250 million dollars into winner Mayweather's pocket and brought 100 million for Pacquiao. It looks like another payday is on the way for Money Mayweather.
