Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng told the president of the New Development Bank (NDB) that China will step up its pragmatic cooperation with the bank.
Han made the pledge while meeting with K. V. Kamath in Beijing on Wednesday.
The Chinese vice premier noted that the new measures announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) showed the country's resolve to further open itself up to the world.
The NDB is welcomed to actively support and participate in China's reform and opening up, Han emphasized.
He also congratulated Kamath on the progress made in the bank's system building, business running, and credit assessment, saying China is ready to continue to provide support to the bank.
For his part, Kamath thanked China for its generous support. He promised that the NDB will keep on strengthening collaboration with China, and play a positive role in the development and prosperity of the BRICS nations as well as other developing countries.
The NDB opened in Shanghai in 2015. It is founded by the BRICS emerging economies, which include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
