Five people were killed when a small plane crashed in northwest Kenya on Wednesday morning, Xinhua reported, citing local police.

The plane was en route to Lodwar from the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve when it developed a mechanical problem and crashed in Kericho County, said regional police commander Edward Mwamburi.

Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene.
