At the final day of the 2019 ITTF World Tour Hong Kong Open, China nailed all gold covering men's single & doubles and women's single & doubles on Sunday.
Chinese player Lin Gaoyuan defeated his Japanese counterpart Tomokazu Harimoto with six sets (11-3, 7-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9 and 11-7) at men's single final, avenging an old debt at the final hurdle of the 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Final.
"For sure I am happy to win, this was a very tough match but I am well prepared. Playing in Hong Kong does feel like half a home court to me, it certainly helped with those fans rooting for me during the match. Despite winning the title, I still have a lot of shortcomings that I would like to improve on and play even better in the upcoming tournaments," said Lin after the game.
Also, Lin teamed with compatriot Liang Jingkun to claim the men's doubles title with a victory over the pair from the Republic of Korea, Jang Woo-jin and Lim Jong-hoon (6-11, 11-6, 12-10 and 11-8). It is the Chinese players' first gold medal success as a pair on the ITTF World Tour.
As for women's side, Wang Yidi grabbed her first women's singles title on the international level with a dominating win against No.2 seed Mima Ito from Japan with four sets (11-3, 11-7, 11-5 and 11-6).
Seeded seventh, Chinese duo Chen Ke and Mu Zi nailed women's doubles champions against No.4 seed Jeon Ji-hee and Yoo Eun-chong from the Republic of Korea (9-11, 11-1, 11-4 and 11-5), their first trophy as a pair.
