The highly-anticipated finale of HBO show "Game of Thrones" did not air on schedule in China, due to "transmission medium" problems, according to Tencent's official Weibo account on Monday.
For millions of Chinese fans looking forward to the end of "Game of Thrones," the news was unacceptable. Comments flooded Tencent's social media accounts. Some thought it was a marketing tactic to get people to renew their membership, while others complained about the lack of explanation for the "transmission medium" issue.

"To be able to watch Game of Thrones, especially the last episode, I became a member for two months. Otherwise, one month would have been enough. Should I cancel the membership fee now?" Mrs. Zhong, a Tencent member, said to the Beijing Business Today.
According to the People's Daily Online, while it's hard to predict how the delay of the "Game of Thrones" finale will affect Tencent Video negatively, it's likely to affect membership renewal.
So far, Tencent has not provided an update of when the finale will be shown. Until then, Chinese fans will have to avoid the Internet for spoilers.
