Saudi Arabia plans to introduce sleep pods that resemble Japan’s famous capsule hotels in the city of Mina, as an estimated two million Muslims gather for the six-day Hajj from August 19 to 24, one of the five pillars of Islam. Each napper can sleep three hours in the pods. The pods are imported from Japan and cost around 1,000 US dollars each. The free nap pods are part of new measures Saudi Arabia is carrying out to modernize the centuries-old practice of Hajj.
