Welding on the spherical shell of China's homemade 10,000-meter-deep manned submersible wheelhouse was completed Saturday in Beijing, showing workers' ability to handle high tensile materials. The spherical shell is made of titanium alloy, and the wheelhouse serves as the core part of the submersible, which needs to operate under tremendous subsea pressure and so has very strict requirements for the use of titanium alloy.
