China regrets the US decision to leave the Iran nuclear deal, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a regular news conference on Wednesday, adding that China will continue to work hard to maintain and implement the agreement.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the US will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, a landmark agreement signed in 2015 by Iran and six world powers, including EU heavyweights Britain, France and Germany.
Geng said all relevant parties should carry out the deal seriously and maintain its integrity, which is conducive to safeguarding the international nuclear non-proliferation system and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
"China calls on all relevant parties to assume a responsible attitude in order to return at an early date to the right track of implementing the deal," Geng said. "China will continue to uphold an impartial, objective and responsible attitude, remain in dialogue with all parties and continue to devote itself to safeguard and implement the deal."
