The last remaining abortion clinic in Missouri, U.S., said it may lose its license of providing the service this week, making Missouri the first state without a working abortion facility since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973. /VCG Photo
Planned Parenthood said in a statement on Tuesday the state’s health department is "refusing to renew" its license to offer abortion service. /VCG Photo
The clinic will be shut down if the license, which will expire on Friday, is not renewed. Planned Parenthood said they filed a lawsuit requesting a restraining order against the state to restore the license. The case will be heard by a circuit court judge on Wednesday. /VCG Photo
"This is not a drill. This is not a warning. This is a real public health crisis," said Dr. Leana Wen, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, a nonprofit organization that provides sexual health care in the country. /VCG Photo
The governor of Missouri on May 24 signed into law a strict anti-abortion bill that bans abortion after eight weeks of pregnancy with no exceptions for rape or incest. /VCG Photo
