During a meeting with visiting Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping said military ties between China and Russia provide important support to bilateral strategic cooperation. The Chinese president also urged the military forces of the two sides to tackle mutual security threats and create a favorable environment for the development of the two economies.
