"The Path to Prosperity," an in-depth eight-episode political documentary about China's 40 years of reform and opening-up, began on Tuesday on China Central Television (CCTV) during prime time.
The first episode, "The Covenant of History," focused on how China explored the great path under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
In 1978, the reform and opening up program was initiated at the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Central Committee.
In coastal, riverside and border areas everywhere, a multi-level pattern of opening up was gradually forming with great changes taking place.
Episode Two reveals some key decisions the CPC has made to lead the country to a brighter future.
Under the Party's leadership, the people of all ethnic groups in China have embarked on the path of national rejuvenation and made the country strong and prosperous. This has opened up the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics and changed both China and the world.
The documentary was co-produced by eight organizations – the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Leading Group for Deepening Overall Reform, the Party History and Archives Research Center for the CPC Central Committee, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Radio and Television Administration, the Xinhua News Agency, the China Media Group and the Political Work Department of China Central Military Commission.
