K-Pop fans are saying the baby southern pudu, one of the smallest deer species in the world, resembles Haechan, an 18-year-old member of the popular South Korean boy band NCT, and immediately began calling the petite deer species “Baby Haechan” after the zoo shared the arrival of the adorable newborn on social media. /Screenshot via Instagram
The resemblance created such a buzz that the zoo reportedly started a fundraiser on Facebook for fans who favor naming the pudu after Haechan. /VCG Photo
The southern pudu is known as the world’s smallest deer, ranging in size from 32 to 44 centimeters tall, and is reportedly classified as near threatened. /VCG Photo
