China's Peng Cheng and Jin Yang clinched the silver medal in the pairs competition of the final of the International Skating Union (ISU) Figure Skating Grand Prix in Vancouver, Canada on Sunday,
The Chinese duo, who surprisingly grabbed the top position in Saturday's short program, failed to carry forward their winning form on Sunday but still managed to finish second after being edged past in the free skate.

Earlier, Peng and Jin turned in a solid performance in the free skate with their routine set to the music of La Vie En Rose.
The 2018 Olympians opened with double Salchows, and executed the rest of the program's elements without errors including side-by-side triple toe-double toes, an impressive triple twist, and a throw triple loop and Salchow.

The pair finished all their 11 movements in a good fashion and scored 141.21 points in the free skate. Thanks to their emphatic performance, the duo amassed a total of 216.90 points, 2.98 points less than the eventual winners, Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres from France.

Peng said after his team's silver-winning performance, "I was worried about her since we stepped onto the ice, and I was concerned there might be some factors we would not be able to control, but after our first jump, the confidence she gave me inspired me to carry on.
"My strength is not great due to a lack of training time, but we found a solid balance that carried both of us forward."
