Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to meet with leaders of eight Pacific Island countries that have diplomatic ties with China on the sidelines of the APEC meeting in Papua New Guinea. During his visit to Australia last week, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, "China is happy to see South Pacific island states having more friends around the world. We are also happy to see the development of friendly ties and win-win cooperation between these South Pacific island countries, Australia, and China."
