An anonymous Saudi official said in the latest account that a team was sent to try and convince journalist Jamal Khashoggi to return to Saudi Arabia. Khashoggi didn't agree. The official said Khashoggi resisted and started yelling after the team members threatened to drug and kidnap him. The men then applied a chokehold on him that led to his death.
