April 23 marks World Book Day, an annual event designated by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. This year, anchors from the China Media Group will take you on a journey through the exquisite works of Shakespeare to explore the beauty of literature and language.
In the seventh episode, special guest Wang Luoyong, joins the anchors in sharing another version of the renowned "Sonnet 18", opening with the beautiful line that is known to almost every literature enthusiast “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day…”
Wang Luoyong is a Chinese actor, director and scriptwriter. He is well-known in China not only for his film roles, but also as the first Chinese actor to make it to the stage on Broadway. In 1995, he played the main role of “the Engineer” in the Broadway musical "Miss Saigon", which earned him international fame.
His name recently appeared in the headlines of Chinese media after he joined TV show “The Sound”. His English version of an ancient Chinese essay “Chu Shi Biao”, written by Zhuge Liang to the emperor Liu Shan of Shu Han during the Three Kingdom period (220-280), won him wide appraisal as well as popularity among the younger generation.
