Chairing a meeting, the prime minister reviewed the progress of CPEC projects in industrial development, special economic zones, road projects, agriculture development, infrastructure development and Gwadar port development.
Khan said that early completion of CPEC-related projects is in the great interest of Pakistan and will bring huge socio-economic opportunities to the people. The prime minister said that Pak-China cooperation in industrial and agriculture sectors would help Pakistan tap its potential in these areas.
He also directed chairperson of the country's board of investment to present comprehensive recommendations on speedy development of special economic zones within four weeks and decided to form the CPEC Business Advisory Council to give recommendations to the government regarding the project.
The CPEC is a flagship socio-economic development project that is meant to serve all parts of the country. Among all the projects included, the Gwadar Port serves as a focal point of the CPEC. The port was officially put into use on November 13, 2016.
