China has always regarded Ghana as a reliable friend and a good partner, Chinese President Xi Jinping said while meeting with his Ghananian counterpart Nana Akufo-Addo at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Saturday, ahead of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The two leaders agreed to inject new vitality into and further enrich the bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the Chinese president highlighted the profound China-Ghana friendship and welcomed Ghana to take part in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
Xi also encouraged the two countries to keep close communication on international and regional issues and safeguard the common interests.
The friendship between Ghana and China created by the elder generation is unbreakable, Akufo-Addo said, reiterating that Ghana has always adhered to the one-China policy.
China contributes to world peace and development, Akufo-Addo noted, stressing that China is an opportunity for Africa's stability and revitalization.
China is Ghana's largest trading partner with 6.67 billion US dollars' worth of trade volumes between the two countries in 2017, representing an increase of 11.7 percent. Ghana's export to China surpassed 1.85 billion US dollars last year.
China's financial investment in Ghana last year reached 123 million dollars, covering 25 projects, and the number of projects ranked top among all the foreign investment countries in the West African country.
