Chinese scientists aboard the new generation of research vessel Kexue (Science) recently discovered nearly 10 rare "seabed gardens" in the south of Mariana Trench, the deepest place on earth. Over 50 unknown species of pink Stylasterina, with an average length of 50 centimeters, were found for the first time in an oligotrophic sea area in the western Pacific Ocean. The scientific team also found rare red and yellow willow-like corals and mysterious deep-sea ascidians in the area.
