CSL’s Shandong Luneng beat last season’s first division team Guizhou Hengfeng 3-0 at home and entered the semifinals 3-0 on aggregate. Liu Junshuai and Brazilian defender Gil scored the first two with headers from corners in the 19th and 59th minutes respectively, and Zhang Chi added one more in injury time.

In the 40 degree Celsius weather, players suffered, but both teams managed to play for more than 120 minutes.
For Shanghai SIPG vs Beijing Guoan, Spanish player Jonathan Viera’s free kick at the edge of the box helped Guoan push the game to extra, making the score 2-1, 3-3 on aggregate. But it stayed goalless in 30 minutes of extra time, taking the match to penalties, where Beijing Guoan beat Shanghai SIPG 5-4 and entered the penultimate round.
Jiangsu Suning and Guangzhou R&F also tied, at 2-2. Because of the 0-0 result in the first leg, it also went to extra time. But it didn't reach a shootout as Israel's Eran Zahavi scored a penalty given by VAR seven minutes into added time, giving R&F their ticket for the semifinals.
Dalian Yifang, Shandong Luneng, Guangzhou R&F and Beijing Guoan all confirmed their place in the semifinals of the tournament.
