Xi urges Myanmar to strengthen border management

Chinese President Xi Jinping urged Myanmar to strengthen its border management and meet each other halfway during his meeting with Myanmar's Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing at Beijing's Great Hall of the People on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Xi highlighted military cooperation in China-Myanmar relations, saying that China is willing to work with Myanmar in maintaining border security and stability. Xi also reiterated China's support to the domestic peace process in Myanmar.
Regarding the bilateral cooperation and exchanges, Xi applauded the progress China and Myanmar made on jointly building the Belt and Road, and cooperation in many other areas.
He expected the two countries would further expand pragmatic cooperation, push forward the China-Myanmar comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation and contribute to the regional peace and prosperity.
For his part, Min Aung Hlaing appreciated China's support to his country and its military development. He vowed to take concrete actions to maintain border security and stability. He said that Myanmar is willing to join hands with China in the Belt and Road Initiative cooperation and pragmatic cooperation in other areas.
