Key projects like the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway between China and Indonesia need to be well carried forth, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, while calling on the two sides to step up efforts in figuring out potential areas for cooperation.
President Xi made the remarks when meeting with Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who's in Beijing for the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) scheduled for April 25-27.
"I proposed the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road for the first time when I delivered a speech in Indonesia in 2013," President Xi said, hailing the great progress both countries have made since.
The Chinese president also called for a new type of international relations which features mutual respect, objectivity, and win-win cooperation. He also hoped to partner with Indonesia in building a global community of a shared future.
Kalla echoed that Indonesia is an important partner for the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative. He said he looks forward to promoting ties with China on various fronts including trade, investment and education.
The Indonesian vice president also vowed to preserve multilateralism, along with China.
