At least 12 people were killed, and 20 others injured after an explosion rocked the center of the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad on Sunday, Reuters reported citing Sohrab Qaderi, a member of the provincial council of Nangarhar.
The blast, which took place hours after President Ashraf Ghani visited Jalalabad, damaged shops and buildings around Mukhaberat square in the city, said the governor's spokesman Attaullah Khogyani.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
