A forest fire erupted on March 29 in Qinyuan County, north China’s Shanxi Province. An area of around 600 hectares was engulfed by the flames. Some 4,670 local residents were evacuated with no casualties reported. Over 15,000 people are battling the fire, with windy weather posing a great challenge to their firefighting efforts. The blaze is 90 percent under control, as of Thursday afternoon.
