Kremlin shrugs off 'conspiracy theory' of Trump acting as Russian agent

The Kremlin denied Tuesday allegations that U.S. President Donald Trump could be acting as a Russian agent.
"This is a conspiracy theory, which has no relation to reality," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with the Argumenty I Fakty newspaper.
"The United States found itself in a unique situation: both the society and the government are divided, and as a result of this Trump has to work in difficult conditions," he added.
On Friday, The New York Times reported that U.S. law enforcement bodies had launched an investigation into whether Trump could be acting as a Russian agent against U.S. interests intentionally or unwittingly, in particular, when he sacked FBI head James Comey in 2017.
Trump himself denied these allegations on Monday.
"I never worked for Russia. Not only did I never work for Russia, I think it's a disgrace that you even asked that question because it's a whole big fat hoax. It's just a hoax," Trump told reporters in Washington.
