American sprinter Noah Lyles won the men's 100m race in a photo finish in 9.86 seconds – a personal and world-leading best of the year – in the final event of Saturday's Diamond League series in Shanghai.

Lyles, 21, was third from last after 60m but accelerated to catch compatriot Christian Coleman on the line.

South African Akani Simbine was third in 9.95.

Chinese home favorite Su Bingtian finished fifth in 10.05, followed by his teammate Xie Zhenye in 10.09.
