President Xi Jinping's special envoy to attend Mexican presidency handover ceremony

Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Shen Yueyue, also vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will attend the Mexican presidency handover ceremony in Mexico City, Mexico, scheduled for December 1.
Shen's attendance is at the invitation of the Mexican government, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said Tuesday.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador from the National Regeneration Movement Party won Mexico's presidential election on July 1.
López Obrador went into politics in the late 1970s. In 2000, he was elected mayor of Mexico, the country's capital.
Before being elected as Mexico's president, he participated in presidential campaigns in 2006 and 2012.
